This just sounds fun! Opera, fire, cabaret, circus stuff and wit! I'm there.
The Vagabond Opera
Agua de Beber Capoiera Arts Academy
1811 Del Paso Blvd.
Thursday April 5th, doors open at 8:30 pm.
$10.
Vagabond Opera is an operatic European circus cabaret with high-flying displays of musical pyrotechnics matched by witty and incendiary theatrical derring-do. This is the new wave of opera--lusty (trained) voices singing in Balkan and Arabic tongues--Opera liberated and reinvented for the rest of us.
featuring Sacramento’s own UNMATA and Verbatim

Re: What can be queerer than Bohemian Opera?
Sun, April 8, 2007 - 4:16 PMI was really really good. I don't normally listen to concerts but this one kept me engaged. they were a good mix of talent, skill and lots of hard work. They sang is like 9 lanuages and amongst the group spoke 6 languages. I'm not srue what to call their style.. Bohemian really seems like the best. Like a bunch of people who had traveled around Europe collecting music and music related history and then began learning and fusing things together. Their stage performance was very silly cabaret, with a fire eater, a hoolahooper, and other exciting entertaining. They're from Portland and travel down this ways about 3 times a year to gig. I'll definitly try to see them again next time. -

Sun, April 8, 2007 - 4:19 PMAnd of course the opening act with UNMATA and Verbatim dancing their Tribal Fusion BellyDance rocked the house as always. (but I'm a groupie so I'm a bit biased there) :)
